Best practices after a hard drive failure:

A good number of the damaged disks that arrive to our lab for data recovery, many have been opened and taken apart by third parties.

Opening a hard drive requires very specific conditions and measures to protect magnetic data carriers.

It is of the utmost importance that a hard drive is never opened except in a clean room environment. The technician handling the disc must wear a special lint-free suit, gloves and a surgical mask to avoid damaging the data on the disc.

Without these conditions, the data on the disk is at real risk and may be lost forever.
